You know, I just realized, in the RotK movie, Frodo hasn't seen Gandalf since Moria. So when he wakes up in the bed at the end, wouldn't he be pretty surprised? In fact, wouldn't he think he had died and gone to heaven, or the Hobbity equivalent? In fact, they even shot the scene with a golden sort of halo-y light. I bet Frodo is there thinking "aw man, ALL my friends died? Oh well, at least heaven has a comfortable bed."

I am sick sick sick. The kind of sick that won't let me sleep. Hence being awake at 3:32. I'm waiting for the Tylenol to work. I generally like to let fevers run their course, but in the case of middle-of-the-night racing thoughts/waking nightmares that won't let me get any rest, I make an exception.

I wish I had some cinnamon bread. And a hot water bottle. And a magic laundry-doing fairy.

Waaah.

i was just thinking about that scene the other day, and how it parallels the laughter in gandalf and frodo's first meeting in fotr. in the books there's a line about how weird it is to hear laughter when everyone is gathered in ithilian at the end because no one has laughed in like a year and i think the scene is a nod to that. but yeah, frodo totally thinks he's dead. i wonder how bummed he is to discover that he isn't.

I never thought about the parallels with fotr, that's a good point. I'm in the process of rereading the book while also watching every special feature on the extended dvds. the attention to detail in that movie is insane. there's nothing like it.

agh I have no lotr icons wtf

Ooo, that sounds like fun. I haven't watched the special features in a really long time. I don't want them to get old and I also like keeping artiface out of my art sometimes. So I rarely watch special features at all but lotr is different. Though watching would make me all nostalgic for lotrippy fannish days of yore. Sigh.

I take my lotr very seriously. ;)

The movies were fail to me because they didn't have enough hobbits. That said, that scene of joy when Frodo wakes up and sees him is one of the most joyous in all of cinema, and when I saw it in the theatre, I nearly passed out I was laughing so hard.
